InferMed establishes Strategic Partnership with NNIT to host clinical trials Electronic Data Capture solution

London, UK, 5 July 2007… InferMed Ltd, a leading provider of advanced software solutions for clinical research and practice, has signed a four year strategic partnership contract with NNIT A/S, a leading European consultancy specialising in IT implementation and operations. Under the agreement, the two companies will collaborate to market, implement and support MACRO, InferMed’s Electronic Data Capture (EDC) solution for clinical trial research.

Having collaborated on a number of joint projects over the last three years, InferMed and NNIT will provide a cost effective high quality clinical data management solution, making MACRO the ideal system for even the smallest trials and not for profit organisations.

NNIT will provide a hardware platform for all MACRO software, including the Clinical Gateway link that transfers data from MACRO into Oracle® Clinical 4.03 and 4.5, to ensure the highest levels of security and reliability. NNIT will also employ dedicated staff trained by InferMed to write clinical trials studies using MACRO, reducing costs and offering flexibility to smaller units.

NNIT will assist InferMed in driving sales of MACRO, which incorporates its world leading clinical decision support software, Arezzo®. Arezzo is a highly advanced clinical decision support technology designed to aid clinicians through the process of diagnosis and treatment. The inclusion of Arezzo within an EDC tool enables a clinical trial protocol to be encoded along with the Electronic Case Report Forms, providing detailed/patient specific support for clinicians as they enter data without having to refer to a separate document. This makes MACRO the obvious choice for trailing new procedures where adherence to a complex protocol is crucial in demonstrating efficacy.

Commenting on the agreement, Duane Lawrence, Chief Executive Officer of InferMed, said: “Building on an existing relationship with NNIT, the combination of skill sets this partnership brings together opens new avenues for InferMed, allowing us to provide a cost effective alternative to groups that do not wish to establish their own GCP hosting environment. Outsourcing to this software and services combination will enable smaller companies to design and run trials using MACRO, and offer larger companies flexibility to access expert resources as demanded by their product pipeline. The partnership makes MACRO the EDC solution of choice for companies of all sizes and budgets.”

Michael Bjerregaard, Vice President, NNIT Sales, added: “NNIT is very pleased about this project. We view it as a breakthrough for NNIT within the area, and the project is an important step towards becoming Europe’s leading IT service provider to the pharmaceutical industry. We expect to generate more business through our cooperation with InferMed.”
