AREZZO working at the heart of the Cocoon project
Since the beginning of 2005 InferMed has been a member partner of the Cocoon Integrated Project funded by the European Commission under the 6th Research and Development Framework
Cocoon (www.cocoon-health.com) is a pan-European collaboration involving both Microsoft and Siemens. It seeks to provide a portal through which clinicians will be able to access a range of services that make use of information contained in Electronic Patient Record Systems.
InferMed has joined the project to provide its AREZZO clinical decision support technology as the heart of Cocoon’s decision support offering. The first pilots are planned to take place in three regions (Lombardy, Brussels and Epirus) during 2005 and the system will be trialled more widely thereafter.
Dr Robert Dunlop, InferMed’s Clinical Director said, “The benefit offered by the Cocoon concept is that it will act as an integration portal. Healthcare professionals will be able to use a wide range of knowledge support services without the need to re-enter data or pay for costly individual integration projects. We are proud that AREZZO has been selected to provide the active computer-interpretable guidelines”.
