The MACRO User Group goes to Liverpool for its 6th annual meeting
The latest MACRO User Group took place at the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation conference facility in Liverpool on June 1st and 2nd 2005. This year almost 60 users of the MACRO EDC system came to Liverpool to exchange ideas and experiences and discuss future requirements for the software with various members of the InferMed development team.
The meeting was once more organised by a committee of users and the users themselves created its structure and content. The dedicated conference facility at the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation proved to be popular with the attendees and discussion amongst the community of users at the meeting was lively and productive.
Amongst the presentations given at the meeting was an enlightening session on ‘Integrating clinical and translational research data’ led by Peter Kerr of the NCRI Cancer Informatics Initiative.
In addition to the plenary sessions at which users such as Roche and Organon presented on their experiences of using the MACRO software, the group spent various sessions in smaller groups looking into further detail at their working practices, at their wishes for the future and at specific aspects of their use of the MACRO software.
With the MACRO user community continuing to grow, this annual meeting represents a positive opportunity for new and established members of the community to share their experiences and also their requirements and wishes for the future development of the software. The InferMed team values highly the opportunity to spend the time interacting with the users of the software and this year was a good example of how beneficial such meetings can be.
Andrew Newbigging, InferMed’s Managing Director of Clinical Research, commented, “The annual gathering of the MACRO user community is now a key focus for our company, as it provides a valuable opportunity for us to learn from user experiences and to plan future developments with users in a very fruitful and rewarding atmosphere.”
