Recommendations

Once the clinical information entered on the data gathering proforma has been submitted by clicking on either the Submit or OK buttons, ERA will make its recommendations. This advice will be based on the clinical features submitted and is intended to aid, not replace, clinical judgement. Regardless of ERA's advice, its is still the decision of the GP to refer or not.

ERA will typically give one of two recommendations; to refer under the two-week standard or not to refer. However, some referral processes may recommend a third option, such as a non-urgent referral to a breast specialist or a referral for a chest x-ray.

The recommendations window has three options:

Explain - this option will display a direct HTML copy of the referral guidelines section of the published guideline, but it will highlight the relevant referral statements of the guideline.

Refer - select this option if you have decided to refer the patient.

Quit - this will close down the recommendations window abruptly losing all information entered.

Should you need to change any of the clinical information, remember that you can click on the Edit button to return to the data gathering proforma.
